Guthrie Weathered Lightweight Tartan is a muted olive-based tartan with shades of grey. Woven using 100% Pure New Wool this tartan is available for made to measure products, accessories, soft furnishings and craft projects. Made here in our mill in Selkirk, Scotland.
The surname Guthrie originates from the barony of that name in Angus which is near Forfar, although it is said to derive from Guthrum, a Scandinavian prince. It was Squire Guthrie who brought Sir William Wallace back to Scotland from France in 1299. Sir David Guthrie was the Kings Treasurer in the fifteenth century and built Guthrie Castle, near Friockheim, in 1468.
